Hero Loan Salutes to Service with Operation Reconnect on 20th Anniversary of 9/11
Last weekend, Operation Reconnect held a “9/11 Salute to Service” event for former and current service members in order to help bring awareness to the servicemembers who put their lives on the line to protect our country. Hero Loan was proud to be the title sponsor for the event, and several employees from both Hero Loan and The Home Loan Expert showed up to show their support.
All the main branches of the U.S. military were represented at the event, along with local police officers and numerous Veterans. The event showcased a variety of resources for servicemembers, along with entertainment, live music, vendors, car displays, and more.
A Jeep and motorcycle rally was led by the Gulf Shores Police Chief, followed by a fully-customized “We the People” Jeep that flew a Hero Loan flag—and an American flag, of course. Hundreds of motorcycles and Jeeps followed the procession, all decked out in celebratory stars and stripes.
The event was organized by Operation Reconnect, a nonprofit that pays for returning combat Veterans to stay with their families for a week in resort environments, allowing them to spend much-needed quality time together.
The founder of Operation Reconnect, Ryan Charrier, spoke to attendees and highlighted various programs and support systems available to Veterans, such as the Alabama Career Center System and the University of Alabama Veteran and Military Affairs department.
“It was incredible getting to meet so many Veterans, and it was an honor to be the title sponsor—this year, and for many years to come,” said Mike Carey, one of Hero Loan’s Loan Officers who also attended the event. “Hero Loan is a great benefit for our Armed Forces that have given so much, and we can’t wait to earn their business.”
